The Wonderful Adventures of Nils (great for boys who get a into mischief)
Animalia - Barbara Berger (wonderfully done with beautiful pictures)
King Beetletamer by Isabel Wyatt (Anything by Wyatt and you can't go wrong)
The Little Troll (One of my personal favorites too)
The Tomten by Lindgren
Catwings and the Catwings series by Ursula LeGuin (fairly inexpensive in paperback, the boys and Lauren love it)
SnugglePot and CuddlePie (comes from the land from down under and a little gem too, about two gumnut babies and their adventures; about 200 pages long)
Charlotte's Web
Stuart Little both E.B. White and wonderful (Stuart is different than the movie)
Wizard of Oz was great (different than the movie, kids loved it the book
version)
Troll on Tree Hill (about a troll that doesn't believe in children)
